Traditional Acupuncture and Five Element Acupuncture

acupuncture largeThe practice of Traditional Acupuncture, also known as Five Element Acupuncture, is derived from Taoist philosophy and practice. Acupuncture treatment is over 5,000 years old and uses thin needles and heat (moxabustion) for diagnostic and treatment techniques.

Acupuncture increases the flow of Qi(energy) throughout the body, facilitating the body’s natural ability to heal itself. The overall goal of treatment is to balance the five elements within the body and unite the forces of yin and yang at all levels.

Acupuncture can improve stamina, focus, sleep patterns, relaxation, mood and resistance to disease. It enhances a sense of well-being. Many people also feel a connection to creativity and a sense of peace after acupuncture.

Another style of acupuncture known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TMC) addresses physical symptoms primarily. Nancy was trained in five element acupuncture and learned TCM in order to meet acupuncture licensing requirements. In addition to physical therapy, she incorporates principles from both Five Element and TMC to give you the most complete possible treatment.
